Legal opinions & consultations

Asking the right question at the right time often costs far less than a full lawsuit. We advise individuals and businesses on everyday legal questions and significant decisions. The first consultation is free and is used to assess the matter and identify the next step.

What we handle

  • Advice before signing a contract or entering a transaction
  • Assessing your position in a dispute before filing or responding to a claim
  • Written legal opinions on a specific question for a business
  • Reviewing a judgment and assessing whether an appeal is worthwhile
  • Advice on employer and employee relationships
  • Advice on inheritance and wills
  • Guidance on procedures before government bodies and judicial platforms

How we handle the file

In the first consultation we listen to the issue, look at the documents you have, and set out a preliminary view of the legal position, the options and the risks of each. If the matter needs deeper research, a written opinion or representation, we agree the scope of work and fees with you before starting, taking your financial and legal circumstances into account. A written opinion states the facts it relies on, the applicable legislation, the conclusion and recommendations, so that it serves as a clear reference for the decision-maker. Everything you share with us is kept confidential in line with the professional obligations of lawyers.

Common questions

Is the first consultation really free?

Yes. The first consultation is free and is used to understand the matter, give a preliminary assessment and explain the options. If the matter needs extensive document review, a written opinion or representation, we explain the scope of work and fees before starting.

Will what I tell the lawyer stay confidential?

Yes. Under the Law of Practising Advocacy, lawyers must keep their clients' secrets and anything they learn through their work confidential. We therefore encourage you to give the full facts, including those that may seem unfavourable, because the advice is only as accurate as the information behind it.

Is a consultation enough, or do I need to appoint a lawyer?

Some matters only need the legal position and next steps explained, and you can then handle them yourself. Others, such as pending cases or high-value matters, need full representation. We tell you plainly which applies at the end of the consultation.

General information only. The answer in your case depends on its facts and documents.
